Are you happy?

Happiness-Quotes-Part-1-21   Take a quick moment and ask yourself this question, “Are you really happy?”.  I’d love to say that as the writer of this blog, Defining Happy, that my life is filled with skips through lavender fields, impromptu moonwalks down the sidewalk, and an abundance of happy days but that’s not the case. I’m Continue reading

THE NEXT LEVEL

Its been 8 months since my last post and as much as I’ve missed writing I just couldn’t bring myself to sit down at this laptop and release.  My thoughts were constipated.  Restricted by a cluster of what I had left in my past, what was happening in my present, and the uncertainty of my future. Until this morning, when the overwhelming feeling of blockage and the lack of productivity went away and the yearning to discover and create my “what’s next” overcame me.

In 2013 I had Continue reading

I’m Possible

Favim.com-18108

I was recently on a telephone conversation trying to gather some information for a move I’m trying to make in regard to my career.  The cat on the phone seemed more than eager to tell me that what I was trying to accomplish was “impossible”.  He had repeated this word about 5 times in a matter of seconds. Before I knew it I had completely shut him down by replying, Continue reading

The art of serenity

Although a tad bit harsh you have to admit that you can’t get any more real than the statement above. I will absolutely admit that as a teenager….I used to be some what of a hothead.  While that didn’t include embarrassing myself in public if things didn’t go my way, anyone (and I mean anyone) who didn’t do right by me would feel the wrath. On the 7 hour drive down to DC yesterday I spent a lot of time reflecting on how far I’ve come in life. It’s always easy for people to say that you should “leave the past in the past” and move on.  In some instances this may be appropriate but I prefer to look back at those hard times so I can reflect on how much I have grown and accomplished.  Or even just to give me a reason to smile when I’m feeling down.  My “rock bottom” led me on this wild journey and will be a huge part of the solid foundation that I am going to build this next phase of my life upon.

CHEERS to the hardships, naysayers, backbiters, mistreaters, and the trials and tribulations. They came so that they could make me stronger.

So what’s next?

I still don’t think it has hit me that I am officially back in the states.  I’ve kept a pretty low profile since arriving…only four people know I’m here. My last few days have been spent being bossed around by my furry brother who insists on being picked up and carried around the house (evidence below), spending time with my Mom, and checking on my grandparents every day.
