In a blink of an eye

I just learned today that a dear friend of my grandparents was killed in a car accident last week.  Her funeral is today. This woman and her husband sat next to me at the event I threw for my grandfather back in April. She had previous problems with her health but on this night she looked radiant. Now, she is gone.

This woman who assumed she would succumb to the illness she kept secret from those who were close to her died in an accident while going to visit the sick and shut in at a nursing home. She died while preparing to serve others…..

I can’t stress enough the importance of living each day like it is the last one you’ll ever see. I think people say this so often that it just rolls off of their tongue with ease but I doubt they’ve ever taken the time to understand what that actually means.

For me it means living with no regrets, loving my fellow man despite their differences and shortcomings, remaining humble and grateful, forgiving and giving more, and living with purpose and passion. I don’t want a day to go by where I feel like I haven’t given life my 110%.

I also learned today that not only is my grandfather’s mass growing larger but he is having minor surgery on Monday.  While I have faith that everything will be alright my mind can’t help but to focus on this tragedy and how quickly life as we know it can change in a blink of an eye.

Take a moment to evaluate your life. It’s much too precious and short for you to waste time carrying around baggage filled with fear, regret, excuses, hate, grudges, and negativity. I believe we are all placed on this earth for a divine purpose. Whatever dreams you’ve had stashed away or shut down by the next man….step out on faith and take the first step toward achieving them! If there is a goal that has been on your list of resolutions for the last few years that you are dying to achieve….get off your ass and make a move toward accomplishing that goal. God works through faith not fear!

I think sometimes people fail to figure out their purpose in life because they are so busy thinking small and setting limitations for themselves based on gender, race, or other things. Be BOLD, Dream BIG, and Think BIG.  You might as well.  Who wants to look back on this wonderful opportunity called life and have a bucket full of regrets? We owe it to ourselves to make the most out of each and every day that we are blessed to walk this earth.  Trust and believe I’m taking a huge sip of my own advice and evaluating my own life right now.

Tomorrow is not promised my friends.

RIP Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Ruff. You will truly be missed.
