Randomness: Thoughts about Cambodia

Random thoughts and “facts” about Cambodia (Siem Reap and Phnom Penh):

1. It’s hot as HELL!

2. You can’t walk 2 centimeters without someone begging or harassing you. (to include the tuk tuk driver who is sitting next to the restaurant staring at me as I type this and is waiting for me to finish my food so he can ask me if I need a ride)

3. The ratchet trend of wearing your pajamas outside and to work has made it over here. But at least they slap some make-up on their face to complement the fashionable look 😐

4. For one of the poorest countries in the world it ‘spensive as heck here. (Compared to other SEA countries)

5. If one more child under the age of 9 begs me to buy a bracelet, a book, sunglasses, a magnet, or carries a naked baby (the same baby I’ve seen on the hip of 23 other ppl) over here and asks for money for clothes for said baby I’m not only going to scream but I’m also going to grab a switch off of the tree and commence to mildly beating the child vigorously.

A ten year old child hustling like a 40 year old woman

They also lurk around the corners and appear out of nowhere

Oh you’re busy eating? That’s no problem. I’ll wait here until you’re finished

6. Lastly, I know you can’t expect much from an $8 massage or $7 pedicure but I didn’t expect to have to buy a file and polish and have to re-do my toes myself.

Special shout out to the Cambodian lady who not only left her thumb prints in my skin after the mediocre massage but also clipped and filed my toenails into triangles in a matter of milliseconds. #WINNING! 😐
