Randomness: Pet Peeves on the Road

Random thoughts while sitting on a random bus going to a random mall to kill random time.  I thought that I’d share a few things that have drove me nuts during my travels so far.  I don’t always focus on negative things but the pet peeves listed below occur much too frequent and can’t be ignored. Randomness: Addressing the black elephant in the room Pt. 1

I never really thought of my blogging as being a part of a movement or a portal into how black people or black women are perceived around the world but I’ve received emails from a few people who think otherwise. I’m reading that I’m tackling some heavy issues that most people don’t often speak about. There are a few things that I hate to go into detailed discussions about; religion, politics, and the whole “black” thing. Give me a minute to explain the latter before you press the X at the upper right hand of your screen. Continue reading

Randomness In the Middle of the Night

I woke up in the middle of the night and tons of thoughts were running through my brain.  Although I’m not a full functioning Facebooker (I only post quotes, inspirational messages and random photos) I felt the need to post my thoughts there.  I thought I’d share them here as well…..

You never really know someone’s complete story. The story behind their determination and apparent happiness. The same story that explains the pain and sadness you see in their eyes. Even though I’ve been guilty of doing this in the past…I now make it a point to refrain from judging others by what I see on the exterior. I know first hand how it feels …to be misunderstood and constantly put in to a box that I don’t fit in based on other people’s random assumptions and perceptions of me. I found it exhausting trying to prove that I’m a kind person with good intentions and a pure heart; so I stopped. At the end of the day I have one person to please and that just so happens to be the only person whose judgment and opinion really matters. My story and my past will forever be a part of who I am, but never more will it define who I am today. From now on it will be used as a testimony and stepping stone to help me become the person I strive to be. Never judge my book by its cover because even the smallest star shines bright in the darkness. Word.
