Is it difficult to be genuinely nice?

Have you ever known a person who blamed all of their problems on someone else? Smack dab in the middle of what could be classified as paradise I am in the midst of a few people who I am going to label “Serial Complainers”.

You’ve all been around this person at one point or another.  They have problems and it’s never their fault. People are always out to get them and the world just wants to see them fail.  Here are some phrases that would normally come out of the “SC’s” mouth.

“I was going to get a degree, but the school didn’t process my paperwork in time.”

“I really got good grades in school but the teachers messed up and they weren’t recorded properly.”

“I would have gotten farther in career but I always had a boss who was jealous of me and wanted to see me fail.”

Uh seriously??

I never try to pass judgment on people but what I hate is when people judge others without completely knowing their story or circumstance.  When arriving in Playa Guiones I noticed that it was a pretty close knit community of mostly foreigners (US and Canada).  It’s small and everyone seems to know everyone. It’s also a huge yogi (I hope I’m saying that right) community so I expected it to be a friendly and somewhat loving environment.  What I wasn’t expecting was drama, anger, gossip, and messiness. It’s like one big soap opera.

I have been trying to spread my sunshine and positive energy around so I don’t inhale any of their negative energy but it hasn’t been easy. My attempt at dodging some of these bullets have included me hiding out in my cabin for the majority of the day…which is ridiculous.

Just think about how much more fulfilled our lives would be if we did more inspiring, empowering, and uplifting as opposed to gossiping, backbiting, and disrespecting others. Just a thought…

Amen! I just wanted you to know that….it’s Christmas time in Hollis Queens, moms cooking chicken and collard greens, rice and stuffing macaroni and cheese, and Santa putting gifts under the Christmas tree! Merry Christmas Chica! And continue spreading love!
