Fearless Journey

Feeling like I’m on top of the world!

I believe in turning tragedy to triumph.  Through this entire process I’ve never considered myself a victim…always a victor.  Although I’ve mentioned it a few times on this blog I don’t always highlight the fact that I was molested.  Not because I am ashamed but because I don’t want each and every one of my days consumed by my past.  I do, however, plan to use what happened to me as a platform to help others. Defining Gratitude

Gratitude – the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful –dictionary.com

If it had not been for the thousands of Facebook posts from friends and family I swear I would have forgotten that today was Thanksgiving. I am in a country outside of the US so it is obvious that no one here celebrates this holiday.

This time last year I was a few weeks in to my much needed therapy sessions and I was a huge ball filled to the rim with every emotion you could think of…..with the exception of anger. Although I felt as thought the weight of the world was on my shoulder I didn’t want to sulk and complain. So instead of wallowing in own mess on my couch with a sad chick flick and two bags of hot fries and an entire ice cream cake from Dairy Queen Continue reading

Central America…Alla Voy

So tomorrow I am Central America bound.  Specifically Guatemala. More specifically La Antigua, Guatemala.  I had a great time in Dallas visiting with my Mom, attending my old church, and catching up with a few good friends. I thought about how excessive my stopping in the states for a week and a half just to replace a retainer may appear but I know it was meant for me to be here.  From the word spoken in church to conversations had with friends old and new…this week and a half has truly been a blessing. Continue reading

Life is but a dream

My time back in the states has been both eye opening and interesting to say the least.  No one knew I was coming.  I just showed up at my mothers door.  After ghetto banging for about 15 minutes and thanks to the dog my little brother and his nonstop barking at the top of his little lungs she finally came to the door.  This is one person’s house you will not get in to if you come over unannounced.  Continue reading

The whisper

After hanging out in the twilight zone for a few days I figured it was time to roll on out.  I  previously spoke about learning that my grandfathers mass in his lungs had grown larger.  He was also having minor surgery for an unrelated issue but no surgery is minor for a senior who has both dementia and lung cancer. Continue reading

In a blink of an eye

I just learned today that a dear friend of my grandparents was killed in a car accident last week.  Her funeral is today. This woman and her husband sat next to me at the event I threw for my grandfather back in April. She had previous problems with her health but on this night she looked radiant. Now, she is gone.  Continue reading
