Happy Holidays

I spent last Christmas at a Women’s shelter serving food to homeless women and children. It was a pretty rough day for me as I was just a couple months in to my therapy sessions and still a bit raw from the experience.  I looked at each of these women at the shelter and knew that my life could have easily gone down the same path that they had traveled. These women had nothing and although their eyes were a window to the pain in their souls their faces donned smiles that lit up the room.

That afternoon I went back to my “stuff” filled house and spent the rest of the day alone….on the couch…watching movies…thinking about my life…and crying my eyes out.

This Christmas I am spending a quiet day with my Mom and my little brother (the furry one below). I cooked a small dinner for my Mom since he had to work the night before.  Instead of sleeping in the plush bed in a fancy room here at my Mom’s house I have been content with sleeping on the floor.

Who knew that a life so simple could bring so much happiness?

Wishing you all a Happy and Joyous Christmas,

Miss Venus
