So what’s next?

I still don’t think it has hit me that I am officially back in the states.  I’ve kept a pretty low profile since arriving…only four people know I’m here. My last few days have been spent being bossed around by my furry brother who insists on being picked up and carried around the house (evidence below), spending time with my Mom, and checking on my grandparents every day.

4 Continents, 12 Countries, 30 Cities…

Over the last few days I have thought long and hard about where I am at this point and what my next steps should be. I mentioned before that I wasn’t having “fun” anymore and who the heck wants to have this type of experience and not completely enjoy it?

I’ve been on the road since April and Lord knows I’ve had some experiences that I could not recreate even if I tried. I have traveled to so many places in such a short amount of time that I haven’t really had the chance to sit back and think about all of the amazing things I have done, seen, and the people I have met and been inspired by along the way. I initially set a duration of 13 months to travel the world and the decision to Continue reading

When Animals Attack – Costa Rica Edition – Part 2

After the bed bug fiasco I was moved into the new tree house cabana on the property.  This is hands down the coolest place I have slept during my entire eight months on the road. While it is supposed to be rustic it feels like luxury accommodations for me. Mind you this is coming from a woman who has slept in a tent in -302498309 degree weather on top of a mountain and on a straw mat on a floor so anything better than that would seem like a nights stay at the Waldorf Astoria.

All seemed well until today when Continue reading

Decisions Decisions….

I’ve been feeling a little disconnected lately.  As I’ve said before Playa Guiones is filled with a TON of Americans and it feels like I’m vacationing in Florida somewhere.  The living is a bit too easy for my tastes. I actually love to feel like I’m in a foreign land engaging in uncommon activities and dealing with the inconveniences that come with being in a foreign country. Who comes all the way to Central America to only speak English, gossip about the neighbors cheating husband, and hang out with grumpy Americans? I might as well be Continue reading

Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems

Eight months of travel and I hadn’t yet had any of the major travel mishaps that most people fear.  That was until two days ago when I got an email from my mom saying that one of my banks called the house to report Continue reading

When Animals Attack – Costa Rica Edition – Part 1

One can only imagine that by living at a place called “Enchanted Forest” you would expect it to be Wild Kingdom outside my cabin door.  After months of becoming one with nature and seeing about 30983209482309483209 different species of animals I thought I had seen just about everything.  That is until I woke up a few days ago with Continue reading

Trust your instincts

Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way. -Florence Shinn

I have been traveling since April and I will admit that I’ve been feeling a little burned out lately.  I thought staying a little longer in one place would help to combat that but unfortunately it hasn’t.  From the first day I arrived I felt a sense of home here in Antigua and immediately decided that I would stay here for a few months.  I started looking Continue reading

When shit hits the fan….WWMVD (What would Miss Venus Do?)

I’ve used about 482304982309832 ATM’s around the world with no issues.  Today, I get an email from a representative at one of my banks notifying me that the ATM that I had just used one hour prior was Continue reading
